i was driving down the freeway and noticed the fan was running, i looked down and the sevice engine light came on and 10 miles later when i got home the temp. gauge had not moved at all with a 36 mille trip in 65 degree weather it should be warm any ideas? possible thermastat

It sounds like your thermostat has become 'lazy' meaning that it is allowing too much coolant to flow, which keeps your engine from properly warming up, which will set a Check Engine Light Code. Does you temp guage raise a bit if you let the car idle for 10 minutes or so with the heater and A/C off?
