You will need to find out where the power loss is. Sorry but I cannot tell you from here. Circuits will need to be tested in order to see what does and does not have power after the engine stalls. One possibility is a faulty ignition switch. I would recommend you have your car checked out before replacing any parts.

I just had the same problem, its the pass-lock anti-theft system. Either the switch and cylinder or the BCM will need to be replaced. around $600.00 for the switch and cylinder or around $800.00 for the BCM. First try to reset the system your self. turn the key to the on position and wait for the security light to go off (around 10 to 15 mins) then turn the key to the off position for 5 seconds. Repeat this process 3 times before trying to start your car. Takes around 30 to 45 minutes to complete. On the third time you turn the key to the off position and wait 5 seconds then try to start your car. Hope this helps, good luck.

Todd481 and barney have similar problems but todd481's solution may not fix barney's problem. The theft system problem todd481 had will cause the engine to start and die but all other electrical systems should function normally. If barney is describing his problem correctly is looks as if more is going on with the electrical system then just a theft system fault. We must always be careful not to jump to conclusions when problems appear similar. Barny, if you found out what the problem was with your 2001 Pontiac Grand Am please let us know.

Dodge 3500 Check the WCM (Wireless Control Module or Wireless Remote Receiver.) They react different in each case to deter theft.
