No coolant hose lasts forever, and can have a catastrophic failure just because of degradation over time. Although, if you are getting a pressure buld up from just cranking the engine, then you have major engine damage, such a cracked head, or blown head gasket. Check the oil in the engine, and see if it reads very high, or appears milky. If it does, then the engine is probably destroyed. The pressure build up from that kind of failure can also easily blow coolant hoses, as well.
