a/c compressor will not kick in

I had a similar problem, did you check the BCM (Body Control Module). Mine had to be replaced. Cost was $900. But if it needs replacing, you'll thank yourself later. You could have other problems later on like the dash not illuminating or your locks stop working. It's just better to replace it (if it doesn't work properly).
