Help!!! I had just started the car when it died. At first we thought I just needed a jump. Got a jump and the lights and radio, etc., came on, but the steering wheel is 100% frozen, no give whatsoever, and the ignition is frozen as well--when I put the key in, it will not move, again no give whatsoever. Also, I guess what you call the shifter, the thing in the car that I use to change gears, will not budge, completely frozen. Don't even know where to start looking. Please help.

It sounds like it would be a battery problem..I had the same problem before..either your battery is COMPLETELY dead or very low. What you could do is take it to a local auto shop and have them test the battery to see if it needs charging..most places will do it for free..or you may need a new battery all together..batteries range around $125 max.
Try changing the 20 amp fuse under hood. My car does this when overheated in hot weather. You can also disconnect the shifter if you pull up the casing and there is a small white plastic piece on the right side you disconnect it to manually move vehicle.
