What is your question?
Can’t find any info if I can just switch them out and if it is plug and play with them being from both base models.

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Switching from a single-zone HVAC system to a double-zone system in your 2009 Pontiac G8 can be a complex task, primarily because it’s not just about the physical unit itself; you’ll also need to consider the wiring, controls, and possible calibration of the HVAC system. While some components might be interchangeable, it usually isn’t a straightforward plug-and-play situation. Here are a few things to consider: 1. **Control Modules**: The double-zone system will likely have different control modules. You’d need to replace the control unit for the HVAC system, as well as potentially other related components. 2. **Wiring Harness**: The wiring harness might differ between the two systems, meaning you may need to modify or replace the harness to ensure everything connects properly. 3. **Ducting and Blower Motor**: Depending on the design, the ducting and blower motor setup might also be different for a double-zone system, affecting airflow and distribution. 4. **Calibration**: After the swap, the system may require recalibration to function correctly, which might need specialized equipment or software. Since it’s a significant modification, it would be best to consult with a professional or someone experienced in HVAC systems for your vehicle to get a clear idea of what’s involved and whether it’s feasible.
