Security light stays on car wont start

Hello, if the security light stays on, it sounds like there's a concern with the key being used and the programming to ensure they correspond and allow starting. Is this a different key than usual? Do you have another key to try? I'd have this checked by a technician with diagnostic equipment capable of programming keys to the vehicle.
