Is is smart to make a $1000 repair on a 2002 Bonneville with a rebuilt engine and only 40K miles on it

Vibration and sputtering started out of the blue, have had car for one year with no other issues, a perfect ride.........was owned by my mechanic and was taken good care of........The car has a total of 112,000 miles and the engine was rebuilt at 65,000 miles. The only other issue I've had in past year was having the blower motor replaced. This came out of the blue.
