Check the fuel filler neck, where it goes into the tank. I had a 1997 that rusted out, and could smell gas in, and around the car. Look for wet spots on the ground under the car, or around the engine area, or along the underside of the body where the fuel lines are. It could be coming from many different areas, but finding a wet spot or smelling the fumes in a certain area of the car should give you a clue what, or where to look.
