My 1992 Bonneville SE just started exhibiting the exact same behavior about 9 days ago and as a result is a major inconvenience. I see you started having problems back in March of 2011 so I am going to assume you either solved the problem or got rid of the car. I would like to find out what you did to fix it, if you did? I bought the car to save it from going to a salvage yard in May of 2014. Although it is a junker, it has been one of the most dependable cars I have ever owned and ran great until this problem arose 9 days ago. It gives fantastic mileage, has more than ample power, and doesn't consume any oil so I would hate to get rid of it over some minor problem. If yours required a major repair, I would like to know so I don't end up sinking a bunch of cash into it replacing sensors, etc one by one until the amount of cash tied up in the attempted repairs dictates that I have to drive it for another ten years to break even. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
or it could be one of the sensors. My 92 w/259K did this and it was the main sensor.
