could this be a drum problem? only 39K miles on car

Often times this squealing just happens and there is nothing you can do about it. Get the car inspected to make sure everything is safe, and use higher quality brake replacement parts when you get them serviced. Have them cleaned, and that's about all you can do. It's quite normal.
