What is your question?
My 97 Cutlass Supreme has recently begun having serious issues. For the past month or so there has been a steady coolant leak. We have not had the money to bring it to the shop so we have kept it topped up. The coolant only leaks when the car is running. Yesterday, the car stopped running, and because our gas gauge does not work well I thought we were out of gas. After refilling it the car would not stay running. It would turn over fairly easily at times but it would not idle comfortably - it would accelerate and decelerate on its own for 30 seconds or so until it stopped running on its own. It was at this time other the oil lamp light, and battery light came on. We are trying to anticipate how much we will save for repairs. Does anyone have any idea what the problem(s) could be? Thanks in advance.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Can drive the car short distance before it threatens to stop running, usually at idle.
How long has your 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme had this problem?
Couple days.

Where is the coolant leaking from? A vacuum leak could cause it to cut off,but so could many more things. Possible clogged fuel filter>Under vehicle, driver side, below seating area, front of fuel tank, mounted on frame rail in fuel line>Possible fuel pump failing, plus the sender/float arm/switch is bad if your gas gauge is not working, located in the fuel tank>possible that there was no fuel in the tank? many more possibles...possible bad/failing ICM (Iginition Control Module) the thing that the 3 coils sit on top of? Check for spark and fuel, that would be a good start. Also, your battery light, oil light, and check engine light come on and stay on until the engine is running,so if it cut off, then it's normal for those lights to come on until the key is turned off,and then when the key is turned on again, engine off,the lights come on then also and stay on until engine is running.
