reattach the headlamp control switch - do i have to take the entire dash off?

1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 2 dr Coupe. The headlight control switch knob assembly works fine, but came loose and now pushes into the dash cavity when you try to turn it. Can I reattach or clip this back without taking the entire dash pad, upper and lower and cover?? If so, how does it clip or attach in there. Any help will be appreciated, been dealing with this for awhile. Thanks!

Hello, it sounds like there's a retaining tab on the switch housing itself, or on the dash side that could be fractured. It's hard to know until partial tear down occurs. Remove the headlamp switch first and have a look to see how it attaches - you should be able too see tabs or grooves where it fastens. Without eyes on - hands on - it's difficult to make good recommendations, honestly.
