You should have 2 crankshaft position sensors on the 3.1L engine in your 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera. There is a 7x sensor located on the back side of the engine block, just above the oil pan - this sensor will generally cause a stalling condition when it fails. The second is a 24x sensor located behind the crankshaft pulley at the front of the engine. This sensor is used buy the PCM for misfire diagnostics.
