Hearing noise when only driving after a short while from left front of car.
What is your question?
I only start hearing a noise from the left front wheel of car. Sounds like a
rubbing noise that changes in pitch. I took off hubcap , but I still get noise.
It only makes noise after a short time of driving. I have front wheel drive, could this be wheel bearings?
Hello,
This is likely a worn wheel bearing or worn front brakes.
If the break wear indicator is touching the brakes, the noise will stop the second you touch the brakes, and resume when the brakes are let off.
If it is a wheel bearing, the noise will be heavier sounding when you press the brakes, or turn the car away from the side that makes the noise.
Thanks casey 40510, after taking my Olds out and paying more close attention to the noises I was hearing.
What you said about touching the brakes and the noise would stop is what happened. It's not a heavy noise
I have been hearing, but more like a rasping noise that goes up and down with speed and then stops when
I touch the brakes. So I will have a shop here check it out, hopefully it won't cost me a bundle to fix.
So thanks again for taking the time to answer my question.
Ok, that's the brakes then, you just need a standard brake service, as long as everything else is in order.

For your service, put in 'front brake pad'
