i have to jumpstart the car to turn it on, the altinator and battery are good, but the altinator does not charge the battery

If the alternator is not charging the battery, how did you determine it was good? That is the job of the Alternator. Be sure to see the red Battery/Charging System light come on when you turn the key on with the engine OFF. This is necessary. Or either the Bulb or wring is defective and your Charging system will not work!
