Car Issue Summary (Nissan Micra Diesel 2012) Hi, I need help diagnosing a strange electrical issue with my 2012 Nissan Micra XV Diesel. Symptoms (only after 40+ mins of driving): Speedometer suddenly goes crazy, then stops working Key warning light appears on the dash Steering becomes light like EPS is off Car jerks while accelerating/decelerating Car doesn’t shut off unless I hold the stop/start button for long One time after bump-starting (without ignition ON), car didn’t start for a few mins Airbag light is always on Error code related to rail pressure stored What I’ve Noticed: Problem only happens after long drives No parts like ECM, alternator, or battery have ever been replaced Idle engine load is ~45%, rail pressure ~220 bar What I’ve Done: Checked fuses visually Checked battery: Engine Off-12.69v On-14.25v On Load like ac,radio,headlights,etc-14.05v Any ideas on what might be causing this? Could it be ECM, IPDM, grounding issue, or something else? Thanks

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Your questions are a bit tricky for us - in the United States, we've never seen the Micra or its Diesel powertrain. But I'll attempt to weigh in on theory alone. Anytime there is a concern of electrical issues, my initial thought is starting at the 12 volt engine battery. Although your data suggests it's reasonable output voltage, there is not appear to be a test result for a static battery test alone. The battery should be tested for the ability to sustain alone plus reserve capacity and possible internal bad cells. If you have a questionable battery, all kinds of electrical concerns can become present. Do not forget that your engine and vehicle rely on constant and steady voltage from the battery at all times, even when it is being charged by the charging system. Anything that disrupts electrical system integrity can cause all kinds of electrical issues. Have your battery professionally tested first, and make sure you have a known good battery installed in the vehicle. If all is well there and concerns continue, it will take some hands on testing off various electrical components to see what is going on. I would send you a link to RepairPal certified shops near you, but it appears with this vehicle you cannot be in the United States -- so I will just encourage you to find a shop near you for guidance. Good luck.
