What is your question?
Hey, I am not familiar with difference between a car not cranking and a car not turning over, but here is my issue. I had a brake light plug go bad- causing my battery to die. After this my car started struggling to turn over/crank. If I would hold the key it would eventually turn over. But after a couple days of going through this, it stopped altogether. It makes the same noise but doesn't ever turn over. The lights on my car still work. I was also low on gas the night before, and was to lazy to stop that night - assuming I would just get gas in the morning before work. This all started to occur once it started getting cold outside as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do have a recording of the sound when I try to crank it.
How long has your 2001 Nissan Maxima had this problem?
A few weeks, then its been a couple more since it stopped working,

If the engine is spinning over then it's cranking. If you see the belt under the hood moving then it's cranking. If not then check your battery. If so then it could be a fuel delivery problem or about a dozen other issues. If you don't work on cars then you will need a hands-on inspection to diagnose this issue.
