Why is my AC making a weird noise?

I just bought a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander sport and in addition to lack of cold air when the vehicle is sitting idle, there is a strange noise like air is leaking from somewhere... I don't know how to better explain the sound. At one point I thought it sounded like a small dingy fan blade, but the "air leak" sound is more accurate. The sound only occurs when the AC is on.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Only occurs when AC is on
How long has your 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport had this problem?
