Starter or Electrical System Problem

Various warning lights started to come on such as brake, 4 wheel drive light, battery light, etc. My brakes have been serviced already, my battery is new as of April. While I was driving the stereo cut off and I could not turn it back on, the wipers were extremely slow and when I turned the car off it would not turn back on. When the problem first started the brake light and battery light came on at the same time. Any thoughts as to what this could be would be extremely helpful.
