My check engine light keeps coming on so I had a code readout and the code was P0450. A few months ago I had some hack replace my gas tank because it was leaking and now the truck, 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport, has the check engine light on. Also when I stop for gas and remove the cap, gas pressure makes a hissing noise. The truck seems to be running fine though. I was just hoping to get some input on the situation, oh yeah and the gas cap has a good seal.

P0450 indicates fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor or circuit malfunction, either due to short or open circuit or that the sensor is out of range. It could be that the the tank is not vented properly or that the sensor or circuit is faulty. You could recheck the work on your tank, check that there aren't any kinked or broken lines associated with the tank and evaporative emission (EVAP) system. The gascap could be faulty even with a good gasket, it could be failing to vent properly, just a possibility for you to consider.
