A clogged PCV system would be the most common cause for pushing engine oil into the air cleaner of your 1999 Mitsubishi Montero. The excess crankcase pressure could also be contributing to your oil leaks.
Great answer from Jim. Excessive crank case pressure could easily cause external and internal oil leaks. The Mass Air Flow Sensor is more than likely contaminated by oil and needs to be cleaned or replaced. You might also have oil fouled spark plugs or partially clogged catalytic converters due to more than normal oil usage. Zee
ok so what would be the best and safest way to unclog the crankcase i have over 220,000 miles on it i will check the plugs, catalytic converts, mass air sensor and change the pcv valve any orhet suggestions would be greatly appreciated i dont know much about cars im a chef.
Buy a CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner, most parts store sells it and clean the sensor also. Some shops offer engine flush with a machine, during the service there is a special additive goes through the oil passages and remove sludge and carbon deposit. Zee
would that also make oil come out of the engine at th top i thought that it might a head gasket i also lose power when i go up hill
