How would you go about replacing the valve guides.

What is your question?

I'm getting a little smoke on start up, it clears after the engine is running for a minute. I'm using about 1 qt. of oil every 2 weeks, and I'm putting 85 miles per day on it. The truck and engine only has 117,000 miles on it.

The valve stem seals are bad. When I say bad they are most likely hard and not sealing. I'm not a proponent of a mechaic in a bottle, but try a product called WHITE SHEPPARD. NAPA, advance and most parts houses sell it. The product tries to soften the seal and get it to seal again.
