When using air conditioner, cool air blows from driver side vents but warm air blows from passenger side. What are possible causes?

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! When your Mini’s A/C is playing favorites—cold on the driver’s side and warm on the passenger—it’s usually a sign that the blend door on the passenger side isn’t doing its job. Most modern vehicles, including your 2019 Countryman, have dual-zone climate control, which means each side has its own blend door actuator to control temperature. If that actuator is stuck, failed, or just confused, it can leave one side blowing warm air no matter what the settings say. Another possibility is low refrigerant. When the system is undercharged, the evaporator may not cool evenly, and one side (often the passenger side) gets the short end of the airflow. A shop with a scan tool can check for HVAC fault codes and test the actuators without tearing the dash apart. It’s a common issue, and usually fixable without major surgery.
