What is your question?
A couple of months ago I took my mini to the mini dealership because I was intermittently smelling a burning/hot smell from under the hood. They could not recreate the issue and did not fix anything. I continued to intermittently observe the smell. Then I was stuck in stop and go traffic and my mini started making an extremely strong burning smell. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the clutch. The day I got my car back and and parked it there was smoke from under the hood. I took it back to mini and they said it was the oil they used from opening the clutch case. They cleaned it and returned it to me. Since, I have continued to intermittently smell the burning. From what I can recall, I only smell it when stopped and after driving at highway speed‘s. It can sometimes smells like exhaust as well. When giving it gas, quick acceleration, the turbo does make a high-pitched noise but has done so since I purchased it in April/May of 2019.

Driving at highway speeds

Hello, it does not sound like the turbo is the source of any concern here. What was the cause of the clutch needing to be replaced? Clutches can make a burning smell like friction material that is very hot -- but only if the clutch usage is great, or if you are resting your foot on the clutch pedal. It's really hard to know what is happening unless the odor and concern is being experienced first hand. I suspect your repair technicians are having the same concern, trying to duplicate the problem that you are describing.
Thanks for the quick response! I took my car to a different shop and they found a leak in the transfer case, which explains why I was smelling it more when driving at higher speeds.
