What is your question?
My mechanic says the $80 Dorman 902-812 with adapter will work to replace the existing thermostat housing. Auto parts sales sites say only the $160 Dorman 902-5188 with same adapter will work to replace the existing thermostat housing on my 2011 MiniCooper Countryman S. Who is correct?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Driving over 3 miles under 40mph or same mileage over 50mph overheats engine.
How long has your 2011 Mini Cooper Countryman had this problem?
1 month

you can look it up at rockauto.com for the best price. it's about half the price of local rip off parts stores.website is very user friendly.
ok,my bad,but I don't know because you failed to state in your question if your engine is 1.6L Turbo or 1.6L Non Turbo.I don't see either one of those part numbers listed for your vehicle, although I do see part number 921-221 listed for the 1.6L Turbo N18 engine and a couple more from different manufactures like the one listed below. this is why I suggested to look at rockauto.com.
