Problem #1: A short time after the van is on the road the "check traction control" warning light will come on. Often when this happens the Cruise Control will only work intermitently and the rear AC will not work. Problem #2: Now the rodio/cd deck will flash rapidly when yo start the van and will continue sometimes for up 20 minutes and then shuts off. During the flashing you can change pre-set stations but neither the radio or the CD player will play. This is the first and last Ford product I will own. We should of kept the Honda Odesey Lease.

First problem sounds like a speed sensor problem or something that would share an input between the cruise control and traction control. The radio/CD player issue is unrelated and probably a defective stereo unit. A scan tool is required to retrieve trouble codes stored in the memory of the computer of your car to see what the problem is with the traction control fixing that will probably also fix the cruise control.
Same problem here.... watch out every thing else will start working off and on, and nobody will be able to tell you waht the problem is with any certainty. Every once in a while the trac control won't come on and then the cruise control will work. My entire isstrument panel flashes for a while and then quits and will work fine for a while. I have "parking" sensors that work sometimes and other times won't and it seems to all be tied to the Track control light coming on.
I also intermittently get the traction control warning and Mercury has never been able to explain it. I also get an occasional tire pressure warning - when the tires check out fine. Plus, the radio seems to go wonky on occasion. Overall, I'd say this car has electrical issues.
Have several electrical problems and now just had the fourth alternator put it. The radio goes on/off by itself, 6 CD changer is fried, windows work sometimes, sliding side doors will quit sometimes, now the DVD player is on the fritz and will run 24 hours even with car off and hitting power button off. What is the deal with the electrical problems and will Mercury do anything?
