how difficult is it to change the compressor, issue is that the ac gets turned on and the car smokes and shimmys and, early problems were the car would stall out, now it smokes and shimmys and stutters. so i have changed things on a car including a starter on a camaro and a radiator on a camaro and an alternator so how hard is it?

My husband changed ours last year, fairly easily...after he took the alternator off to help with the limited space. We did however loose all freon that was put back into the system due to a hole in the hose which could have been due to the tight space and putting it back together (My husband thinks he may have put the hole in the hose putting the system back together). I would suggest if You do replace it yourself that you have the system checked before you charge it. Also on a side note, the reason I was looking at this site is due to our rear air not working even though our front air works great finally, the hose costs over 300 dollars from ford by the way.
