Probably yes. If the Check Engine Light came on for a few days and then turned itself off and you didn't have a running problem such as a miss or rough idle, it may have just been a loose gas cap or an intermittent problem. Did you get gas around the same time the CEL came on? If it comes on again, you may want to have it checked.

Not sure what you mean by "Burning". Doesn't sound safe if you have doubts yourself. My light has come on as well, I had the mechanic check and see what the problem was. It was a very small leak and required the gas cap to be changed. Just make sure that you close that baby up tight after you fill up.

My check engine light came on and I had it checked and was told that something was wrong with the fuel pump, I went home and disconnected my battery cables and reconnected them and the light went off
