I have 1999 Grand Marquis and I think the engine coolant has leaked out. I heard this was a common problem with that model. Does anyone know what are the symptoms or costs to repair?

there are lots of places that coolant can leak. the intake do leak from the ends and yes, it is common. i would have it verified before doing this as it is expensive. the manifold is available aftermarket for about 350. the labor is 5.7 hours. look at the ends particularly passenger side back by the last plug. that is the common area for leakage. I had a problem with intake manifold last yr. on my 99 grand ma. Apparently there was a recall a few yrs back for this. They made the thermo housing area PLASTIC initially!! Bad Idea. These Crack ! I spent 285.00 on a new intake manifold. It 1hr and 1/2 to fix thru friend. Mechanics were telling me 500.00 in labor. They said it took 4 to 5 hrs to fix. BS. Just so you know I paid 50.00 to friend.(this freiend previously worked for Ford/Mercury) I tried to JB WELD the crack ! LOL! That lasted 20 minutes!! Just Go Buy a new part and find a reputable person to change it for you. The New Part will be made of Metal! NOT Plastic. I Hope this helps :)
