the doors are locked and the remote will not open the doors.

The locking system runs off of air. When I was working on my cars center console, I inadvertently did not reconnect the hose and my center console would not lock. I opened it back up connected the hose and it successfully locked again. I did this same thing while working on my trunk. When one hose is not properly connected the entire locking system doesn't work. Finding the location of the issue will be challenging, but the good news is that it sounds like the system is working, based on your description.
