Hello, If the engine is hesitating and shaking, then not starting, I wonder about ignition and fuel issues. The ignition system can be checked fairly easily if you are handy with a multi-meter, and the fuel system can be pressure tested to ensure fuel is being delivered with adequate pressure to the engine. After the fuel is delivered to the engine, however, there still may be an issue at the fuel pressure regulator or injectors. Start simple, check that the fuel pump is running, check for trouble codes with a compatible code reader, and identify any obvious signs of damage or disrepair.

Do you have a check engine light on? It sounds like the car has been misfiring for a while. If so, you could have quite a few different issues. On this specific engine there are two distributor caps. You need to pop off the plastic covers at the front of each head to access them. A worn cap and rotor on either head will cause a misfire and eventually cause the engine not to start. I'd start there. You can also start with the basics of fuel and spark. Rent a fuel pressure tester and also a spark tested that attaches to the spark plug wire. Alex
