What is your question?
Our 2008 ml550, after jerking when shifting from P to D, went into limp mode n threw the code p0017. We changed out the ECM/TCM, replaced transmission fluid & filter. The car went out of limp mode for approx a month but soon started to jerk again when shifting from park to drive. At first, turning the engine off & on allowed smooth shifting. Eventually, it jerked every time & the car went back into limp mode. We then had all the cam shaft sensors changed. The car then shifted very smoothly from park to drive n was no longer in limp mode but the P0017 returned almost immediately. Next, both cam magnets on the front/passenger side (the side that corralated with p0017) were changed. The engine light was off for 2+hrs of driving but then came back on. P0017 again. No other symptoms besides engine light. It runs &shifts perfectly. Car is overdue for oil change & oil was VERY dirty. Oil change appt on Saturday. What else cld be throwing this code without any symptoms beside engine light?
What makes this problem better or worse?
N/A, engine light is the only symptom at this time. Car runs and shifts smooth. No noise. No vibrations or jerking. No loss of power. No misfires.
How long has your 2008 Mercedes-Benz ML550 had this problem?
Engine light returned after 2+ hrs of driving after cam magnets were replaced. Also, replace tcm and all camshaft sensors

When it comes to the synchronization of the camshaft and crankshaft, oil condition plays a big role. I would start by changing your engine oil and filter, and running your engine with clean oil a while, then see if things improve at all. Other than that, testing will be needed monitoring the crankshaft and camshaft position to see where things fall out of sync.
