If it stays on, you may have an issue with the front SAM, which is an integrated power distribution unit that powers the headlights on demand of the switch. Of course, it could also be a bad headlight switch. If the headlight switch is turned all the way to the left, the left parking lights will stay on to warn traffic that there is a vehicle protruding into the alley (think Europe).
