If the service on a 2011 GL350 is due every 10k miles...

The 2011 GL 350 Mercedes is the bluetec diesel.. It's scheduled maintenance is every 10k miles .. My car was making a loud noise coming from the engine when I started the car towards the end of November 2012. Thought maybe the noise was due to it being so cold outside. So when I took my car in to the dealership to have two tires replaced around 46-47k miles back on Dec 21,2012...Not once did service tec say anything was wrong with my car. They also knew I was leaving to go out of state ... In meantime my car was still making loud noise when I started my car. In the Begining of Feb 2013 I took my car in to have another tire replaced due to screw in my tire.. This time at 51k miles, my car is no longer under warranty. At that point while having my tire replaced I was notified that my serpatine belt and tensioner were severely damaged. The repair was compt, but after repaired there was still a loud noise from engine .. Which now was louder and continued long after car was started.. I commented to my service tech about the loud noise and he told me it sounded like a diesel. Needless to say noise continued and got louder, so i brought It back to the dealership. The mechanic came out and said he thinks it may be the fuel pump. That they couldn't check out the car at that time I needed to come back in a week. Brought the car back to the dealership a week later on march 26,2013. Now over a week later they still have my suv and are now telling me because I was late with my oil change ( got oil changed 13k, 19k, 29k, 42k) that I caused a sludge in my oil. Which they are now saying ruined my engine and they possibly won't fix at their expense. Bottom line is my car is a year and a half old yes I travel a lot and I do have quite a few miles are my suv but it is a diesel. Diesels are meant to be driven and last for hundreds of thousand miles.. My seats were defective before the car was even a yr old by 23k miles I had to have my front brakes replaced and alignment, by 50k miles my serpentine belt and tensioner we're severely damaged, fuel pump was bad and now at almost 53k miles my engine is bad... To me seems like I was sold a lemon car. For a car that is suppose to be serviced every 10k miles I do not think my oil change patterns is what caused my engine to go bad... So I am just trying to get another opinion on this matter .dealerships make their money on services. It just seemed really strange when I brought my car in around 46/47k miles they didn't notify me of anything being wrong with my car till I brought it back in around 51 miles after my warranty expired and that's when I was notified parts were going bad...

do own the vehicle out right? i think you were right think strange that they did not say anything about it prior to warranty running out. unfortunately it sounds like you are left holding the bag. keep in mind that dealerships are only concerned with selling product. doing warranty work for their product takes away from their profit margin. read what u will into that. u can file a complaint with local consumer advocate, provide copies of documented service work done by the dealership. as i said before service stations and oil manufacturers rec. oil change every 5,000 miles. on next oil change rec. oil stabilizer treatment. this will recondition seals and cylinders in engine. may help quiet the sound a bit. food for thought. dealerships on average charge $150.00 per hr. shop time. independent shops will charge from $60.00 per hr.(dep. on whether mech. owns it out right) to $100.00 per hr. not sure about performance shops. since your vehicle is no longer covered by warranty, rec. u find an independent shop to deal with. approach as you would family doctor. keep looking till you find one that u feel comfortable with. once u find one you like, stick with them. customer loyalty goes a long way to getting quality service. now because of the over extended drive time for factory rec. service, rec. u bring vehicle in(not to the dealership) to get a diagnostic run to see whats going on. get the obvious stuff taken care of in the mean time. shop tech. will advise. as a vehicle owner you may want to consider using specialty shops for related items: tires, and transmission. these shops are more versed in their respective fields. this makes them more efficient in services rendored as well as better equipped to trouble shoot for related items. second opinions from certified pros. should always be welcome.

Thanks for the advice we got MB corporate involved...dealership will take apart engine give their opinion then it will be sent off for inspection...so right now can only wait and see what they find during the engine inspection ....oh yes we did purchase the vehicle .. We did not lease it..
