G500 intermittently will not shift into drive without using a pen to reset trans

To shift into drive after starting, break peddle must be depressed. My G500 intermittently needs to have a pen press the release next to the shifter to unlock shifter. We have been to the dealer several times for this problem and still it persists. Anyone else have this experience and how do we solve it?
