Any known fix for the adaptive cruise radar failure in low traffic areas?

I know how to set the cruise control, and how it works. The problem is that after a few minutes in low traffic areas, it shuts itself off because the radar is not receiving feedback from other vehicles. The design flaw needs to be fixed by the Mercedes Engineering Department in Germany. I thought maybe someone would have an update on this.
