car currently has Front 225/40R18 and Rear 255/35R18 and looking to put winter tires 225/45R18 and 225/40R18 on car. will they fit correctly

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. First, never mix "speed ratings" - if they are V in the front, you'll want V in the rear. Second, you can try to use "zero plus" sizing, but it has to be equivalent front and rear. NEVER increase your aspect ratio (the 45 versus the 40 that you have on the car now) unless you're willing to sacrifice tread width (would have to go down to 215). Your rear tires need to be wide at 255, so don't skimp there. Changing the tire sizes front and rear makes a significant modification to the handling of the vehicle which could result in unsafe driving as well as engine performance concerns due to outside diameter of the tires being different. I'd recommend a professional tire shop near you for guidance.
