MY SUGGESTION: 1. Dealer only is to Motorists as Hospice is to AIDS Patients---you don't want to go unless you have no other options. The only thing the dealer is good for is quickly getting the Madza Part number (ID). 2. Start calling Auto Top shops and get estimates to repair/replace the motor. See if they would be willing to do an install (motor) only. If yes, start trolling EBAY else simply 'Dogpile' the term (always use dogpile as your search engine---better hit results) to find the replacement motor. Motors are easy---they are almost never hardwired but with connectors. So unscrew it and pop the connector, already!!! 3. NEWSFLASH!!! NO DEALER WORKS ON MADZA TOPS---they outsource them!!! Since your Model N/C is more than 5 years old, I know you are out of warranty!!! The Dealer will probably charge you $800-1300 to do it, outsource it to a small top shop and pocket $500.00 for the referral. If you know its just the motor (as opposed to a SHORT), buy the motor separately and then install it yerself/get the top-shop to do it!!!
