Do you need to add coolant? Is it running hot? How many miles on car? Why did someone tell you that?
Head gaskets are not replaced based on mileage. Head gaskets are replaced when the engine overheats and the gaskets become damaged. Or if there is a timing belt the breaks and requires the head to be removed during repair to replace bent valves.
Sorry, I had it incorrect. I was told the engine oil pan gasket needs to be replaced. I have not had any indications that there was anything wrong. It cost would be approx. $650. What do you think?
$650 seems a bit high. The gasket may be leaking without dripping. I would ask to see why it's being recommended - the technician should be able to show you on your own vehicle.
So sorry, I was incorrect. It was recommended that the engine oil pan gasket be replaced. The car has almost 60,000 and no indications that anything was wrong. Is this necessary?
