What is your question?
I have noticed as of 3 days ago when in idle or at a stop that the car revs and slightly jerks but nothing to serious but feels like the car is wanting to go. On a 30 min drive it does it up to 10-15 times. When I checked it out we could not hear anything going wrong with the engine and is still running fine, unless you were in the car you could feel the slight kicks. While driving today going over some train tracks slowing down so I don’t catch too much air and trying to speed back up to 40MPH it jerked hard from 4th to 5th gear. I have noticed as of recently that it struggles to switch into these gears and will rev up a bit more then usual. Is this something I should worry about and could this cause a worse issue if not fixed?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Cold start takes a min for the slight kicks to stop

Hello, with a vehicle that is 18 years old and symptoms that are apparent but intermittent and not steadily occurring - i'd say to be aware of possible concerns on the horizon, but not necesarily that you have to be worried. There are multiple circumstances that could cause "jerking" - and truthfully, an automatic transmission fault (if equipped - it's an assumption; is the shifting from 4th to 5th manual?) is not out of the question with the vehicle age and assumed high mileage. How many miles on the Mazda? Certainly, seek guidance from a local professional near you to assess your vehicle. Too hard to know; however - I will say - your symptoms do not sound like things that can be addressed with minor repairs. Nothing proactive i'd suggest. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link or call us at 877-913-1554. We'll gladly find you a certified RepairPal shop in your area.
