What is your question?
I currently have 176 000 miles on this vehicle. I have not had any engine nor transmission problems and the oil has always been changed every 3-5000 miles. The majority of the miles are from highway driving. The transmission has been serviced by Mazda once, at about 75 000 miles. Recently, I was told not to service the trans it could cause problems with it. What's your advice? Thanks.

I've heard two schools of thought on the issue of servicing transmissions on high mileage vehicles fropm expert rebuilders. One thought is that once the seals have hardened from age and there's some debris and muck in the works it you may disturb things when you add the new ATF with new additives, some of which soften the rubber seals and some of which have detergent properties which would stir up the gunk. The other opinion is that "of course you need to sservice the trans and soon!" Myself,I agree with the latter, especially since you've serviced it once and therefore the original break-in debris is gone. If I owned this vehicle, UNLESS the trans is showing signs of failure, I'd service it. I think the "don't touch it" idea is kinda old fashioned. I've always serviced my automatics faithfully since I think they last longer if you do.
