Hid headlights

Hello. I personally replaced and installed the HID bulbs for my 2010 Mazda 3 GT last year. Now both headlights are not aimed correctly and my AFS light is blinking. My mechanic said the headlight motors are bad because he can easily move the bulb / light around in the assembly. He says the installed bulb and light shouldn't move in with human assistance. The replacement cost of a new light assembly (per) is over $800. Are the motors shot or is it something else?
