extensive gas smell

mazda 3 2007 with 69,000 miles is having an obvious gas smell and not positive what it is as car runs very well and doesn't hesitate or feel like its bogged down in any way just a strong gas smell

Hello, it could be that there is a fuel control issue. This could be because of too much fuel being directed to the engine in error due to an emissions system concern or vacuum leak even.
