Car sometimes won't start unless I turn the key so the lights come on,I then press and hold the brake pedal ,engage it to drive then back to park then it starts..what would the problem be?

Hello, you could have a transmission range sensor issue, a brake light switch issue, an ignition switch issue, a starting / charging system issue including the vehicle battery and cabling. Too hard to tell without a hands on inspection and diagnostic test process.
