Car shakes when idle and stops when ac is on, then starts again

Sounds like vibration is dependent on "load" on the engine, which could be when the air conditioning is functioning. This can be normal. But a load can also accentuate a situation when the engine is not running quite right. Check engine performance for fuel and spark for any misfires that may be occurring under load.
