What is your question?
An HID headlight assembly is very expensive and hard to find. The wiring harness to this assembly is supposedly the same as the wiring harness to a halogen headlight assembly. I noticed that the plastic receiver for the wiring harness is a little longer on one type of headlight assembly then on the other. The internal components of the male and female connectors are the same. I am wondering if I can sand the plastic connector down on the halogen light fixture so that the wiring harness will mate up to the connector?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Headlight assembly needs to be replaced. It has a fog and yellowish lens as well as an intermittent flickering
How long has your 2008 Lincoln Town Car had this problem?

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. While swapping an HID headlight assembly for a halogen one is technically possible, it may not be as simple as just modifying the connectors. HID systems have different voltage requirements, so you may run into issues with the ballasts and resistors or even triggering an error on the dash. Sanding down the connector to fit the halogen assembly might work physically, but the electrical system is designed to support HID lighting. It's best to consult a trusted mechanic before making any permanent modifications to avoid potential electrical problems.
