Overheats when I turn the AC off

Well normally the car overheating when a/c is turned off would indicate that the coolant fan was not working and by turning the a/c on the a/c fan was cooling the vehicle down however with the a/c not on and engine at idle that doesn't make sense. So this would have to be an hands on diagnoses
