Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. The first recommendation I have is to ensure that the steering wheel is not tightly against the steering lock. The steering lock prevents the steering wheel from being moved without the key turned in the ignition. However when the wheels are turned in a position of tension against the steering wheel lock, the tightness of the wheel pressed up against the lock can actually prevent the key from turning! If this is the problem it can be easily resolved by taking the steering wheel in your left hand and wiggling it as hard as you can while trying to turn the key with your right hand. You will move the steering wheel briefly off the steering lock, allowing the key to turn if it all works out properly. It does not work, if you will need to have the vehicle towed to a repair facility so the ignition lock cylinder and related mechanisms can be inspected. I would say for every time I've seen this concern, it is almost never a problem with the cylinder and lock itself. It is typically because the steering wheel is tightly against the steering lock preventing the key from turning. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link or call us at 877-913-1554.
