Replaced brake master cylinder to no avail.

Do not forget that you have introduced air into the brake lines too. Not only do you have to bench bleed the new master cylinder, you must bleed the entire system. I'm not sure from your story that you did that. Even if you have - do it all again. There is air somewhere, and you have to get rid of it. Good luck, -Dave
